Silver fillings (amalgam, a mix of mercury with another metal) have been around since the 19th century so it’s no wonder a vast majority of the population have them.
Obviously, silver fillings stand out from natural teeth and can make people self conscious about the smile etc.
The more aesthetic alternative to silver fillings are white fillings, which as you would expect are white (well tooth coloured actually!). They can be matched as closely as possible to the tooth colour and in most circumstances no-one would be able to tell it was a filling at all. They are bonded in place and cause less damage to the good parts of the tooth.
If you’ve ever covered you mouth when laughing or smiling because of your silver fillings, then speak to us at Richard Miller-White. In most cases these older silver fillings can be replaced with white fillings; it will make an amazing difference to your mouth, your smile and your confidence!
